Earlier this month, the Ontario Thoroughbred Improvement Program (TIP) announced four new $150,000 stakes races restricted to Registered Ontario Breds, 4-year-olds and older, to be contested at Woodbine.

First out of the gates is the $150,000 Caledon, a 1 1/16-mile test on the main track that will go as race seven on Sunday (Aug. 30).

Six hopefuls, including Runaway Again (above), will look to take top prize in the inaugural edition.

Trained by Sid Attard for owner and breeder Stronach Stables, the 4-year-old son of Hard Spun out of the Storm Cat mare Golden Venus heads into his fourth consecutive stakes assignment of a second-place effort, just a head back of winner Paramount Prince, in the Seagram Cup (G3) on Aug. 1.

Runaway Again, winner of the 2025 Prince of Wales Stakes, middle jewel in the Canadian Triple Crown, recorded his first graded stakes victory when he took top prize in the Dominion Day (G3) on June 27.

“On that day, for me, the most impressive part was running down Paramount Prince, which is very challenging in the first place,” said jockey Ryan Munger. “There were easy (early) fractions and the way Runaway Again finished, it was such a good win. He showed just how talented he is.”

“He’s been doing really good and things worked out good,” said Attard, after the Dominion Day score. “He’s going to get better and better.”

Sporting a mark of 4-1-2 from nine starts, along with $382,887 (USD) in purse earnings, the bay gelding, a debut winner on July 13, 2025, has hit the top three in his past five starts, going 2-1-2 during that span.

“He is a very challenging horse to ride,” said Munger. “Because he is so challenging, you almost have to say, ‘Okay, the ball is in your court. You decide where you want to sit in the race and decide when you go.’ He seems to appreciate it when I do that. So, I don’t have to fuss and hassle him about it. I let him tell me when he’s ready to go. I suppose you can say that he’s an uncomplicated complicated horse to ride.”
