Regal Affair won the $150,000 Rondeau Bay Stakes for 3-year-old fillies and My Covenant took the $150,000 Lake Erie Stakes for 3-year-old males in the third leg of the Ontario Sired Heritage Series held on Monday’s (Sept. 7) Prince of Wales card at Fort Erie Race Track.

Both races, restricted to Ontario Sired horses, were contested over 6 1/2 furlongs. Both horses were ridden to victory by Pietro Moran.

Ontario Bred Regal Affair (above), a dark bay daughter of Ami’s Holiday out of Luna Blu, won the Rondeau Stakes by a head over Splash of Bourbon (Fraser Aebly)  in 1:16.68. Souper Diva (Jose Campos) led much of the way, but faded to finish third.

It was the second career victory and first since Regal Affair’s seasonal debut on May 16 in a Maiden Optional Claiming race at Woodbine. Regal Affair is now 2-1-5 in nine career starts and sports earnings of $128,659 for her breeder and part-owner Racing Canada Inc. and ownership partner Sheldon Pettle. The filly is trained by Steve Attard.

Regal Affair, the third choice in the seven-horse field paid $8 to win.

It was the first time Ontario Sired Heritage Series event for Regal Affair.

Souper Sporty, who finished fourth in the Rondeau Bay, won the first leg, the $100,000 Georgian Bay Stakes on June 21 at Woodbine on the inner turf. Rondeau Bay runner-up Splash of Bourbon won the second leg, the $150,500 Thunder Bay Stakes on July 26 over 6 furlongs at Woodbine on the main tapeta track.

The final of the series, the Ashbridges Bay Stakes, will be contested on Nov. 15 at Woodbine over 1 mile and 1/16th on the main tapeta track.

My Covenant (Pietro Moran) winning the $150,000 Lake Erie Stakes on Sept. 7, 2026 at Fort Erie Race Track.

In the Lake Erie, Ontario Bred My Covenant scored his second straight victory while winning by seven lengths over Humormeastory (Jalon Samuel), the winner of the second leg of the series, the $151,000 Lake Super Stakes on July 26 at Woodbine over six furlongs on the main tapeta track.

My Covenant led at every calling in the Lake Erie to dominate the 12-horse field in 1:16 for owners Mad Dog Racing Stables LLC and Mike Robitaille. The son of Souper Speedy out of the Old Foerster mare Dilly Dally Darby, was bred by Tucci Holdings and is trained by Audrey Cheung.

In nine career starts, My Covenant is now 3-2-3 and sports earnings of $133,977.

Duck Duck Duck won the first leg of the Ontario Sired Heritage Series for 3-year-old males, the $100,000 Lake Huron Stakes on June 21 at Woodbine over 5 furlongs on the inner turf.

The final of the series, the Lake Ontario Stakes, will be contested on Nov. 15 at Woodbine over 1 mile and 1/16th on the main tapeta track.
