Qualifying a Mare as an Ontario Resident Mare
The Registered Ontario Bred Program provides benefits to owners through the Registered Ontario Bred Restricted Racing Program and the Registered Ontario Bred Purse Bonus Program, and to the BREEDER(S) of REGISTERED ONTARIO BREDS through Breeders Awards.
A REGISTERED ONTARIO BRED is a horse, foaled in the Province of Ontario, out of an ONTARIO RESIDENT MARE, registered with The Jockey Club.
For a horse to be declared a REGISTERED ONTARIO BRED:
- The horse’s dam must have been declared as an ONTARIO RESIDENT MARE for the birth year of the foal and meet all eligibility requirements with Ontario Racing.
- The foal must be registered with The Jockey Club.
